Christians Against Poverty Weymouth and Portland
Debt is one of the biggest causes of poverty in the UK today. Christians Against Poverty brings hope for the future to those in poverty and debt. CAP is a national debt counselling charity working in partnership with local churches across the UK. CAP does not pay anyone’s debts for them but negotiates with creditors and works with clients until they go debt free and seeing thousands of lives transformed. For more information about our local CAP debt centre in Weymouth and Portland contact Claire at claireatkin@capuk.org
CAP runs money management courses and so far, has taken this course to Budmouth School and Kingston Maurward College, and hopes to go into Weymouth College soon.
CAP created a Job support club in 2019 which supports people looking for work. With a 2-1 support system, clients are offered help writing CV’s, job applications and preparing for job interviews.
Two of CAP’s volunteers have been trialling sessions in the Job Centre helping clients budget their finances.
CAP Life Skills is a fun, friendly and free course, giving people a chance to come together and learn skills to shop and cook on a budget, discuss savvy ways of saving money and generally live well on a limited income. If this course is for you or you would like to know more, then just phone or text Jackie on 07762 159218. Numbers are limited so booking is essential.
